Location: Fort Walton Beach, FL
The 96th Test Wing (96TW), headquartered at Eglin Air Force Base (AFB), is host to a wide range of activities that support all services, multiple Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, Contractors, and Allied Nations. The 96TW, under the command of AFTC, is the T&E center for Air Force air-delivered weapons, navigation and guidance systems, Command and Control systems, and Air Force Special Operations Command systems. The Wing provides expert evaluation and validation of the performance of systems throughout the design, development, acquisition, and sustainment process to ensure the warfighter has technologically superior, reliable, maintainable, sustainable and safe systems. The 96th Test Wing performs DT&E across the complete system life cycle for a wide variety of customers including: Air Force Systems Program Offices, the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), logistics and product centers; major commands; other DoD services and United States (US) Government agencies (Department of Transportation, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), etc.); foreign military sales; and private industry. This position is located at Eglin AFB, FL.
Our client is currently seeking a Network Engineer:
Design and implement network solutions utilizing equipment that consists of switches, routers, firewalls, multiplexers, and encryption/decryption devices.
Review network upgrade and change proposals and make recommendations for changes/acceptance, optimization, or enhancements for effective network resilience, reliability, and data throughput.
Effectively troubleshoot network outages and issues. Collaborate with other disciplines to rectify mission problems.
Develop and maintain internal engineering and system documentation. (e.g., policies, procedures, network diagrams, etc.)
Research and analyze products to determine their potential for meeting mission requirements and business needs.
Work closely with senior technical resources to implement new solutions and troubleshoot complex issues.
Develop and implement security designs for new or existing network system(s) and Enclave(s). Ensure that the design of hardware, operating systems, and software applications adequately address IA security requirements for the network/Enclave environment.
Perform technician duties at times to include fiber termination, cable/backbone installation, etc.
Detailed knowledge in telephony technologies (Analog and IP).
Experience with running ACAS or other vulnerability assessments including systems and network vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, web application assessments, social engineering assessments, physical security assessments, wireless security assessments and implementing secure infrastructure solutions.
Deep understanding of network routers and switches (layer 2 and layer 3).
Excellent presentation and communications skills to effectively communicate with management and customers.
Ability to clearly articulate complex concepts both written and verbally.
Excellent customer service skills with understanding and usage of active listening skills
Previous experience as an ISSO or ISSM preferred.
Experience in writing technical documentation, continuity of operations, configuration management, concept of operations, and security plans, such as system security plan (SSP) or physical security plan (PSP), a plus!
Previous experience with radar, telemetry, radios, and SONET (synchronous optical network) infrastructure a plus!
Education and Experience Qualifications
Master's degree in Computer Science or other relevant field with 10 years- experience. Substitution of experience for education will be considered with approval from customer. Master of Science Degree preferred Concentration Network Engineering / Network Security
5 + years- experience in planning, designing, upgrading, implementing, securing, testing, and optimizing DoD networks
Experience in designing and implementing Network Designs and solutions
Experience and knowledge in multiple network protocols (including MPLS).
Knowledge and expertise in Cybersecurity requirements, network technologies and computer security as applied to Department of Defense (DoD) networks
Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose system problems required
RMF Accreditation Experience
Experience and knowledge of latest DOD standards, practices, procedures and methods
Must have at least CCNA certification - Routers and Switches (Must be current)
Preferred certifications: CCNA- Security (current), CCNA Wireless, CompTIA Network +, IAM Level II Cert (current)
Proven proficiency in the configuration, implementation and maintenance of Cisco network equipment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with customer interaction and presentation capabilities required
Must exemplify a dedication to achieving the mission of the 96TW as well as high standards of quality and excellence in performing the duties
Must be able to work effectively alone, unsupervised, or within a group
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment while being able to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines
Secret security clearance
Must be able to maintain level of clearance required for this position
