Job Summary :

Provide software, systems, and network engineering tasks for the requirements, design, implementation, integration, and support of all software and associated documentation for new, upgraded, and existing ION capabilities.Using an Agile software engineering approach, specific functional requirements are fluid throughout the life cycle of the project. Provide configuration management, build, and deployment of the product while also integrating work items from remote development teams.

Work Scope (Duties & Responsibilities) :

Work scope may include any/all of the following duties in a team environment:

  • Develops system and software in a CMMI Maturity Level 3 environment using Scrum and Agile methodologies.

  • Ensures all software meets the security and accreditation requirements outlined by PM and using community

  • Develops internal testing plans to ensure traceability to functional requirements

  • Executes internal testing plan and conduct regression testing; gather testing metrics to assess result of testing program; and conduct Risk Analysis and determine mitigation strategies

  • Develops and sustains a web application that seamlessly integrates a variety of technologies

  • Ensures source control, configuration management, continuous integration, requirements management and daily build processes are installed, configured, and utilized.

  • Provides an automated build process and an automated unit test suite

  • Provides support with trouble calls and requests for user assistance from ION users world-wide

Qualifications

Two (2) years of college in a technical discipline such as computer science, engineering, science, etc.

Knowledge, skills & abilities required :

  • Must possesses and apply knowledge on all phases of software engineering assignments.

  • Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks.

  • The ability to develop methodology and present solutions to problems preferred.

  • Experience and capabilities using Scrum and Agile methods within a CMMI environment desired

  • Experience with development and sustainment of web applications with back end databases, built using a variety of tools, languages, and frameworks desired

  • Experience and capabilities with successful development of complex systems in geographically dispersed, multi-vendor environment using Scrum and Agile methods desired

  • Experience with Department of Defense Certifications and Accreditation programs and HP Fortify is preferred

  • Experience with Agile test processes within a DoD environment desired

  • Experience with implementing Development Operations (DevOps) desired

Training & Certifications :

Prefer Training or Certifications with the following skills:

  • CyberSecurity

  • Agile Development and Testing

  • DoD Testing

  • DevOps

Guidelines :

The employee plans and carries out the assignments in conformance with accepted policies and practices; adheres to instructions, policies, and guidelines in exercising judgment to resolve commonly encountered work problems and deviations; and brings controversial information or findings to the supervisor’s attention for direction.

Complexity of tasks/responsibilities :

  • Work consists of a variety of duties that involve many different processes and methods pertinent to this field.

  • Works with the Supervisor to decide what needs to be done by evaluating together unusual circumstances, considering different approaches, and dealing with incomplete and conflicting data.

  • Works with the Supervisor using judgment and originality by interpreting data, planning the work, and refining the methods and techniques being used.

  • Uses a wide variety of reference materials and manuals; however, they are not always directly applicable to issues and problems or have gaps in specificity.

  • Uses judgment in researching, choosing, interpreting, modifying, and applying available guidelines for adaptation to specific problems or issues

Essential Requirements :

Physical Requirements – Sedentary - involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.Exerts up 10 lbs. of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Work Environment – Involves cubical work in a restricted area.

Attendance - Must be able to work within the shift hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential.

Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines.

Equipment and Machines - Standard office equipment and machines: personal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including desk supplies.

Other Essential Functions:

Must pass drug testing.

Must be able to read and write effectively in English.

Travel requirements – May be required to travel, but will be infrequent
