Senior Systems Security Specialist
Senior Systems Security Specialist will work as a member of the AFSOC cyber defense team, and must be able to conduct network audits, read and understand audit logs, and determine actions to be taken when discrepancies are detected. He or she will be required to monitor the network using tools such as McAfee Host Based Security System (HBSS), Sourcefire Intrusion Detection System (IDS), Bluecoat Web Filter, Ironport email Gateway, Splunk Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system, Kiwi Syslog, and other Computer Network
Defense (CND) tools for malicious activity or intrusion detection and prevention. The candidate should be able to respond to network intrusions and be familiar with performing limited forensic investigation. The candidate will also conduct security evaluations and vulnerability assessments (using tools such as ACAS) and liaison with network and system administrators to correct identified problems. He or she will be responsible for testing new or upgraded hardware and software and implementing new IA technologies.
This support also requires someone that can address the content and effectiveness of information technology security policies and procedures for adequacy and consistency with industry best practices. Must be familiar with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and ensure compliance with these standards. Will oversee testing and assist with the integration of new IA solutions into the enterprise infrastructure.
Additional duties include: perform vulnerability analysis and network audits; provide security testing of all new or upgraded software or hardware; assist in formulating, updating, and implementation of AFSOC and USSOCOM information assurance policies and procedures; and assist in the review and development of certification and accreditation packages.
He or she will perform certification and accreditation coordination, and will advise and assists the AFSOC customer with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and developing a Plan of Action and Milestones for resolving network deficiencies in accordance with DODI 8510.01 or DODIIS regulation. The duties of this task include assessing network compliance against controls listed in DODI 8510.01 and creating C&A packages.
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and eight (8) years of progressive, relevant experience. Four (4) years of additional experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
CISSP or CISM is required prior to hire.
ITILV3 Foundations and experience with Defense Information Systems Agency
(DISA) Cyber Command Readiness Inspections (CCRI) is preferred .
Working knowledge of security hardening of Microsoft and UNIX-based operating systems .
Detailed knowledge and experience with DOD IA processes and policies (e.g., DoDI 8510.1, and CJCSM 6510.1).
Active Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain an TS/SCI .
