Job Description

Job Summary:

Performs application and removal of casts and maintains equipment and supplies.


  • Applies, adjusts, and removes casts, splints, or dressings. May remove staples and sutures. May assemble and attach orthopedic traction equipment and devices and set up special devices as required.

  • Maintains inventory and orders orthopedic medical supplies and/or durable medical equipment.

  • May maintain and service surgical instruments by sterilization and packaging.

  • Maintains service schedule for equipment.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.



  • Required Credential(s):

  • Drivers License credentialed from the Florida Bureau of Motor Vehicles obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.


  • HS or Equivalent

  • High School or Equivalent required.

  • A Graduate of a Medical Assistant or an Orthopedic Technician program required.

Work Experience:

  • One year of experience in assisting orthopedic cases and applying casts/splints preferred.
